Home loan or loan against property: which one do you need?
Both use property as security, but they solve very different problems. Here is how a home loan and a loan against property…
Read the guide →A CIBIL score is a three-digit number between 300 and 900 that summarises how you have handled credit. It is usually the first thing a lender checks, but it is not the only thing. Understanding the rest of the report helps you see your file the way a lender does.
Lenders set their own cut-offs, but as a broad guide:
| Score range | How lenders tend to see it |
|---|---|
| 750 and above | Strong. Wider choice of lenders and better pricing. |
| 700 to 749 | Good. Most lenders will consider the file. |
| 650 to 699 | Fair. Fewer options, more questions, often higher rates. |
| Below 650 | Weak. Options are limited until the report improves. |
These are general patterns, not rules. A slightly lower score with strong income and clean banking can still be approved by the right lender.
No. Checking your own report is a soft enquiry and does not affect your score. Only applications to lenders create hard enquiries. You are entitled to a free full credit report once a year from each credit bureau.
Improvements show over months, not days. Consistent on-time payments are the single most powerful factor.
A low score narrows your options but does not always end them. A secured loan, such as a loan against property or gold, or a co-applicant with a strong profile, can sometimes help. The most important thing is to avoid collecting more rejections and enquiries while you rebuild. Talk to someone who can tell you honestly which lenders, if any, will consider your file today.
Two minutes to apply. One call to know your options. No credit enquiry.
